Multiple Parking Zones Administered By East Sussex County Council
Lewes has several residential parking zones including Zone HS covering the historic town centre, Zone B covering surrounding streets, and outer zones A, E, and F with lighter restrictions. Zone HS includes some streets operating as early as 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday. Bay suspensions in Lewes are applied for through East Sussex County Council. We check the specific zone and hours for your street before the day and handle the suspension application as soon as your completion date is confirmed.
Medieval Streets And Narrow Lanes In The Conservation Area
The historic centre of Lewes has some of the narrowest residential streets in East Sussex. Keere Street, the famous steep cobbled lane descending from the High Street, is impassable for a removal vehicle. Many of the lanes and closes around the Castle and the High Street ridge are similarly restricted. For properties in the historic centre we confirm the vehicle approach, the nearest legal stopping point, and the carry distance to the door before completion day, not on the morning itself.
The Steep Ridge And Carry Distances On The High Street
Lewes town sits on a pronounced ridge with the High Street running along the top and steep drops on both sides. Properties on the upper town, around the Castle Precincts, and along the ridge involve significant gradient on any carry from the property to a vehicle parked lower down the hill. We factor gradient and carry distance into the loading plan when we quote so the time allowed is realistic for where your property sits.
Lewes Bonfire Night And Event Restrictions
Lewes Bonfire Night in November is one of the largest bonfire celebrations in the country and results in temporary parking and traffic restrictions across much of the town. East Sussex County Council can introduce these restrictions at short notice. If your completion date falls in late October or early November we flag this at the point of booking and plan around the restrictions rather than arriving on the day to find access blocked.
Completion Day Removals In Brighton, Hove & Sussex
A completion day removal is a house move timed to the legal completion of your sale or purchase. You can't get into your new home until your solicitor confirms the funds and the agent releases your keys, and every sale below you in the chain has to complete first. So we plan around that moment: pack and load in the morning, keep in touch through the day, and unload as soon as the keys are in your hand. We cover completion days across Brighton and Hove, from Kemptown, Hanover and Brighton Marina to Preston Park, Patcham and Hove, plus Portslade, Lewes, Newhaven, Peacehaven, Seaford, Lancing, Worthing and Eastbourne.
Loaded Before Your Keys Release
We pack and load in the morning so you leave your sale property on time, then drive over as soon as the agent calls. For larger homes we run more than one van, so everything is on board by midday where your contract needs it.
Planned Around Your Chain
Chains slip, solicitors run late and keys arrive when they arrive. You deal directly with Peter all day, and any waiting time is charged at our standard rate under the overtime clause, never as a surprise fee.
Storage If Completion Slips
If completion moves to the next day, your belongings go into short term storage instead of sitting on a van. Every load is covered by £40,000 Goods in Transit per vehicle and £5 million Public Liability.
Handling Timing Uncertainty And Chain Delays
Lewes properties sit across a wide range of chain types, from town centre flats to larger family homes in the Wallands and Pells areas. Key release timing is rarely exact. We hold outside the historic centre until your solicitor confirms, move in once keys are cleared, and do not compress the loading time on streets where the carry distance and gradient already make the job slower than a flat suburban street.
